Re: Spanky 1st gig is tomorrow night! It has huge tone. I couldn't believe all that sound was coming from p90's. I like the varitone control, too. You can get near Fender-tones with it. There is a dummy coil in the back for hum cancelling. It can be switched out with a push-pull switch in the tone control. And, this baby is light! I'm not totally sure, but this is probably going to be the guitar of choice when I have to travel. It will be a lot lighter than either Strat. Frank

Re: Spanky Frank, I'll apologize for my ignorance up front... but what kind of guitar is that? It's a great looking instrument, but I was about to head over to the Gibson website to look it up.

Re: Spanky It's a BluesHawk, Tom. MF marketed a black one for a while as B.B. Kings "Little Lucille". I was talking to Debbie Davies' guitar tech this summer, and she said she had one. I told her I had been looking on Ebay for one. When she decided to sell it, she contacted me and I just couldn't turn it down. My GAS went into overdrive! Frank

Re: Spanky The best part is that it's a cool guitar from a good friend. She was looking for someone who would enjoy it, play it, and take care of it and she thought of me. That makes it even more special. Frank

Re: Spanky You can typically pick up Blueshawks on ebay at a pretty reasonable price. It is one of my frequent searches. I'm getting one as soon as the right guitar and the right amount of cash converge....
Love it...5

Re: Spanky Spanky's first gig was this past Friday night. He was a big hit with the other band members. One of the guys has a real problem with Gibsons, and he loved it. The tone is huge. There's three pickup combinations with six varitone settings in each, plus the dummy coil can be cut off in each position, so there is a wide variety of sounds available. It was great. Frank

Re: Spanky He's never liked the sound of them. I don't know why. He comes from a mainly country rock and folk background, and that may be why. When you think of that music, you generally think Strats and Teles, right? And besides all that, he's the poster child for weird! Frank
