Pro Co Sound is a Michigan Corporation founded by Charlie Wicks in 1974. Pro Co builds audio cables and related products for two distinct channels: Musical Instrument (stores, catalog retailers and distributors) and Sound Contractors (as well as recording and touring sound professionals). The needs are so different (although some of the products are the same), that we have different divisions handling each - more to keep us sane, than anything.
Pro Co sells only to the trades, through a network of professional Manufacturers Representatives, not to individual endusers. We are not interested in being the ?biggest? anything. Our interests lie in the continual improvement of our service and products to our customers, and their continued satisfaction with our performance. Pro Co serves the standard products market with a catalog of 1700 useful items, as well as custom offerings. In 1995, we built 7878 different products, 3360 of which were one-of-a-kind (43%). Our population, by design, stays around 100. Growth has been double digits for years. Limiting our staff forces us to improve our methods (both incrementally and with breakthroughs) enabling us to keep our costs low and customer prices fair and stable. Average cable prices have increased less than 1.4% a year since 1988. Major product offerings for musicians include stage and studio cables (Guitar, Microphone, Speaker and MIDI cables), Multipair Audio Cables (Snakes), the RAT (earth’s most successful fuzztone), plus the 1000’s of one-off specialty products (including black-box products) needed to properly hook up the needs of our customers. In the M.I. division, we work closely with music retailers and distributors, helping with their special display and packaging needs and private brand requirements. Sound contractor products include Patchbays, wired and unwired, microphone and speaker cables, patch cables of many varieties, a growing line of Audio Interface Products (black boxes) Kwik Fixers, and a huge standard line of audio and video-connector loaded stainless steel wall plates, such as the AVP-1. |
