Producer Nile Rogers turned the guitarist into some sort of singing, dancing, tophat-flourishing puppet and Beck fled back to his Sussex home for another self-imposed exile, though we heard the odd lick here and there - playing with Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, the Box of Frogs project (“I came in one Christmas Eve and played five guitar solos”), and saw his bizarre appearance in Twins (“I did it because they said there was a free trip to California in it”).
