Hats on, especially Fedoras, to singer, songwriter, guitarist, and agitator James McMurtry for his recent win of an Esky, Esquire magazine's counter-intuitive breath of fresh air music trophy bestowed on McMurtry in the Biggest Agitator category (bland sounding Esky categories like Best Live Band [My Morning Jacket] are balanced with overlooked efforts such as Best Soundtrack for Getting Off Your Ass [LCD Soundsystem]). The Austin, Texas, based McMurtry was also elected into the Austin Chronicle Music Poll Hall of Fame, and his 2005 album, Childish Things (Compadre Records) won Album of the Year in the Americana Music Awards in 2006.
