Gear Reviews : Hazelton E-Flat Alto Saxophone, Primus Series

Hazelton E-Flat Alto Saxophone, Primus Series

I was excited when I first received this saxophone for review, as I have been playing for over 30 years, and this was my first chance to check out a Hazelton instrument from Samick Music Corporation.

As soon as I opened the packing box, I noticed the padded case was very impressive with its bold red color with the Hazelton embroidered crest logo. This is a perfect touch for a student instrument since it stands out (as opposed to black cases) and makes it easily recognizable. The case is well made and appears to be not only protective, but solid enough for years of use. The top of the case has a flat, zippered section for music. The case unzips to reveal storage sections for the main sax body and mouthpiece, cleaning swab, and extra reeds. The case has a sturdy handle, but as an added touch provides handy extra straps that allow for back-packing. Nestled inside the case was the Hazelton E-flat saxophone, a bright and beautiful instrument with a hand-engraved logo.
