Casey,

I mostly an acoustic player too - and I know Gary is very fond of both.

FolkyMatt is one of our moderators. He is a great acoustic player and will be contributing material on a regular basis.

I'll tell you, I'm really excited about some of the new gear out there for acoustic players.

We hope to have alot hear at GGH for the "boxed" brethren!

Thanks for your post!

Dan

I have a bit of CT from typing on the computer so much. I started wearing a wrist brace when I'm on the computer. It helps a lot.

I hate it when I have to take a break from my guitar! I feel your pain!

Greetings all,

My name is Mike Smith (my parent claim they were too poor when I was born to afford a real name ) and I've been hacking away at my poor guitar for about 2 years. With three young girls, and a 1 year old German Shepherd, I only get time to torture the guitar for about 15 minutes a week so I sound like I've only been play for a few months (reality sucks).

Anyway I'm a computer programmer during the day so I have a lot of time to cruise the Internet for free lessons and am ahead of the curve when it comes to music theory (compared to my physical playing that is, not compared to MGEdwards, Gary, and SlowBlues).

Well, that's me. If I can help anyone out with anything just let me know.

Mike

I like the acoustic and I hope that this site gets more box players to post as I think that alot of sites and players are lead only or maybe lead players are not as shy as us. I like all styles and types of music , but most sound their best to me if striped down to the basic. you can then know the song. If it is good it will be good anywhere on any axe. and will be good all dressed up with effects, too many dogs are all dressed up but when you strip it down it is still a dog.

box lovers where are you ????

I wasn't really sure which forum to add this to, but I just ran across a cool website that many newbies like me might not be familliar with. The website is http:\\www.guitargeek.com. The site is dedicated to showing guitarists rig setups so you can figure out what equipment they use to get their unique sound (and in what order to place them in.)

Hi all.

My name is mark and I live and work in London, UK where i'm employed as a dental laboratory assistant. I've been playing acoustic guitar for about 10 years now and i've just started to play the electric (which i've also had for about 10 years), unsuccessfully!!

I have varied musical tastes from Folk to blues, metal, Punk and anything else that rocks really and i'm looking forwards to picking up some really good tips from U guys...

My guitars are:

Ten year old Tanglwood which I bought to learn on and only cost me ?99.00.

A 1998 Washburn (not too sure on the model)

and a custom which doesn't play that well...Hopefull I'll upgrade to an Epipone Black Beauty in the next few months.....

I haven't got an amp so I play the electric through my cordless headphone and RP50...works ok, but not ideal.

Thanks to Gary and Dan for putting this site together and giving us all the opportunity to share our guitar tips....Well done guys.

Regards

Mark

great job on this site, I have been to many of the sites I had to search for , and they are now all right here, cool. I just had carpal tunnel surgery yesterday and will be laid up for awhile ( left hand now and the right hand when this one gets better ) I wish we would have had guitar health guide when I started playing in 74. but no tears I will be as good as I can be in about 6 weeks. better late than waiting untill I have to much damage to ever play again. I hope g.a. can help the new players not just play but play for the long run, do the streching !! take care of your health, all good stuff.
oh yea ! I have a 1980 sigma I bought new, 1994 limited edition washburn(nice) washburn jumbo vine inlay burl maple(very nice) old pevey with rock wood finger board, and a ruby red ibenez my youngest girl plays, a coulpe of create amps, zoom box and lots of recording soft ware on my pc. you can never have "enuff gear" (fishing, auto,tv,stereo, etc.)
love the site
back to crusing it
