Damn... old thread, but you should check out the Carvin SH575 semi-hollowbody. Great-playing/sounding guitar, but also has MIDI capability that you can use to hook up to a floor synth. There are other MIDI capable guitars out there as well.

Returning to this question after it floated to the top to answer the "problem" posed, and that is the OP wanting to upgrade.

Just bear in mind that upgrading doesn't necessarily mean higher price. I'm just about to pull the trigger on a Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster 50's. That has to be one of the best-sounding and best-playing stock guitars I've every played. Not a surprise that it won a Guitar Player Magazine Editor's pick.

washburn delta king (my number one)
peavey semi hollow with bigsby wanna be
dano double neck
takamine flying v ac el
numerous others under different extremes of undoing
the squire plays wonderfully it did have a weak bridge pup output but the eh line booster helped tremendously.my version of smoke on the water never sounded so full

Yea, it definitely seems like a cool little pedal. No doubt.

I suspect that if you're the type of player that uses distortion boxes into your amp then it'd be fine, but I know a lot of guys think they can get the job done with a solid state amp only to find themselves disappointed after going down a long a tiring road of trying to get it to sound "right".

It's actually kinda funny, I was playing the little 5 watt Blackstar micro stack today and I was thinking about how funny it is that I could go into most metal gigs and kick the pants off most of the other players out there trying to run 100+ watt stacks, simply because they can never get them turned up past 4.

That thing really screamed and I could fit it in the passenger seat of my lil' Datsun.

those amps are nice but they don't fit on my pedal board and yes i will need to carry a cab which i do have and don't intend on getting rid of it as it still works great.the 22 fits on my board with room to spare and weighs much less than my amp or any other i suspect.i'll suffer the pain of the cab but then its only my cab and my board not adding my ap head .mind you i'll still be using my svtek until it completely dies but only at home or recording when ever i can

Seems like a neat idea, but you're still going to need a cab of some sort. Plugging that directly into a PA won't sound right I'm sure.

I'f you want something a little nicer that you can gig with, maybe consider a small 15watt or less head, combined with a small separate cab. A good single 10" speaker can really kick out some tone, and even in a large cab shouldn't weigh more than 15 pounds.

I know the 5 watt Epiphone Valve Jr feels so light you could punt it, and it sounds great with the right cab.
