In The Sound and The Story, Leslie West shares his early experiences in his first band The Vagrants and also shares how the hard rock group Mountain was formed. From techniques and exercises to writing and performing, Leslie gives a comprehensive look at his playing and the ways he has developed as a writer and guitar player. Some of the key video features include: Introduction by Elliott Rubinson CEO of Dean Guitars, Leslie's story as a guitarist and songwriter, tablature book, the story and breakdown of his biggest hits, 14 exercises covering all aspects of the guitar, guest appearances by Zakk Wylde, Joe Satraiani, Mark Tremonti, and Corky Laing, layout of Leslie’s live rig and guitar setup, live studio performances with vocals, documentary style inside look at Leslie as a guitarist and songwriter, live concert footage, original compositions, and much more in over 2 and a half hours of footage.
Leslie West is my hero on the guitar but this is besides the fact that this DVD blew me away with its content. The DVD is packed with like 30 or so lessons each focuses on a certain aspect of the guitar and Leslie's playing style and tone which he is famous for. I have to watch the DVD over and over again because I can use alternative camera angles to get a different perspective of the fret board and Leslie's picking. I consider the $40 I spent on this a good investment....
